A landscape masterplan and detailed design proposals were developed for a proposed crematorium on the former site of Moss End Farm in South Lakeland. The need for a crematorium has long been identified in the southern area of the Lake District. Access and circulation were carefully considered due to the sensitivities of the site’s location within the surrounding countryside. The parkland design setting encourages contemplation and reflection, whilst celebrating the lives of local people. A landscape and visual impact assessment and arboriculture and ecology surveys supported the planning application.
Urban Green and the wider project team successfully defended the original refused planning application via a written representation appeal. The scheme has since
gained detailed planning consent.
“Urban Green provided an optimal landscape scheme to create a clear, contemporary design solution to the sensitivities and requirements of the detailed brief.”
