The role

This role would suit a recent graduate in Business or Project Management involving assisting in the production of fee proposals, coordination of resources, client communication, progress monitoring, and financial tracking, ensuring that all project elements are well-managed and aligned with client and internal expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Log project and client information on the CRM system and update regularly.
• Produce fee proposals under the direction of the team.
• Liaise with clients via email and telephone throughout the project lifetime.
• Take project instructions and set up their appointment, e.g. suppler forms, financial information, purchase orders, etc.
• Set up and keep project files and records organised, accurate and up to date.
• Schedule internal project meetings, workshops and site visits with clients and our team.
• Take and distribute internal meeting minutes - ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
• Contribute to smooth, clear communication exists between internal teams so projects remain on programme.
• Assist project leads by coordinating tasks and team schedules.

Essential requirements

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering ecology projects across a range of challenging and exciting schemes to the highest quality, drawing upon field experience and knowledge of the planning system. A technical focus is required, with excellent delivery experience and strong project management and communication skills. An inspiring approach and the ability to lead and manage staff is required. You will be a key contributor in developing and supporting the growth of the team to achieve business plan targets.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Leading a portfolio of interesting and complex ecological projects from initial client liaison through to completion
• Managing and organising subconsultants and seasonal workforce as required
• Undertaking field work including surveying habitats and protected species
• Ecological Clerk of Works activities
• Writing, overseeing and completing qualty checks of technical reports
• Mentoring and managing enthusiastic Ecologists by adopting a creative and an inspiring approach
• Contributing to business development activities including client relationships

Essential requirements

• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a consultant Ecologist
• A relevant degree
• Full member of CIEEM
• Excellent knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy including experience of practical application of mitigation requirements for protected species.
• Working knowledge of EIA and the planning process
• Protected species licences advantageous, particularly for bats and GCN
• Developed core field and technical report writing skills, alongside delivery of EPSL licence documents and EcIA
• Experience and working knowledge of BNG assessments
• Excellent project management skills including financial control, strong client liaison and coordinating a team effort
• Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Lead and supporting the delivery of arboriculture projects across various sectors
• Support multi-disciplinary projects and offer advice and the benefit of your experience to the wider arboriculture team and the business generally
• Undertake a variety of arboricultural surveys, risk assessments, tree management plans, tree mapping (CAD and ArcGIS Pro technology) and community engagement and produce associated reports for submission to Local Planning Authorities and landowners
• Liaise with the local planning authorities, planners, architects, and other professionals to inform the planning design process
• Provide advice relating to Tree Preservation Orders, tree work applications, Conservation Areas and High Hedges
• Support in the management of the arboriculture team and mentoring and development support
• Assist in all aspects/ duties as necessary including supporting the team manager, analysing survey data, writing and checking reports and assisting in the general workload of the arboriculture team
• Maintain quality standards and demonstrating efficient and profitable delivery

• A degree in an Arboriculture or related subject
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Arboricultural Association
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an arboricultural consultancy role
• Strong written communication skills
• Strong knowledge and experience of tree surveying techniques and risk/hazard assessment methodologies
• Understanding of the principles of Visual Tree Assessment and the ability to work methodically through the process

The successful candidates will undertake tree inspections and assist with tree related risk management of public and/or privately owned tree stock utilising handheld ArcGIS Pro and CAD technology.
