Creating exceptional social spaces for students in Manchester

Construction work has completed at Wilmslow Park House student residence in Manchester.

Urban Green is working on behalf of Vero Group, as part of a national refurbishment programme to uplift and refurbish external spaces to create exciting, usable outdoor courtyards and spaces for students across 12 locations nationwide.

The design team has completed feasibility studies, site appraisals, stakeholder consultation and detailed designs as well as acting as Contract Administrator through to implementation.

Through the use of a bold colours and ambitious use of levels, the modern courtyard layout links to the recently built student social hub and gymnasium complex and creates an instant visual statement on arrival at the facility. This is further strengthened and enhanced by linking internal users to the outdoors through the incorporation of fitness stations to create activity connections and unique social interactions.

Landscape Engineering is the appointed contractor for the first batch of schemes.

Martin King, Director of Urban Green explains “This programme of external improvements across the student residence portfolio, spearheaded by Wilmslow Park is a really exciting opportunity and challenge for the design team. Vero Group has set a brief to create interesting, exciting and usable external spaces for the students, but the window for delivery is short out with term time, so it’s all systems go once the schemes are approved!”
