Design reports and habitat assessments for the NHS

Urban Green were commissioned by Central London and Community Healthcare NHS Trust to produce a series of design reports and habitat assessments (informed by both site visits and desktop studies) for a number of their practice locations across London.

The aims for each of these sites were as follows:

  • Reduce biodiversity loss by protecting and enhancing natural assets, and forming connections to adjacent habitat corridors
  • Reduce carbon emissions and mitigate effects of localised pollution
  • Create usable and visually stimulating outdoor environments that are beneficial to staff and patient health and well-being
  • Achieve benefits with respect to climate resilience

A concept document for each site was produced highlighting the landscape opportunities and constraints, with recommendations made towards maximising the site potential and healthcare/biodiversity benefits through cost effective design interventions, whilst ensuring the external spaces remained usable and easily maintainable.
