The Value of Trees

How to determine the monetary value of a tree

Trees are well known for providing a range of tangible and intangible benefits; from cleaner air, to reducing harmful greenhouse gases, providing habitats for wildlife; to promoting greater physical activity and improving mental health.

By utilising the Capital Asset Valuation of Amenity Trees (CAVAT) method, our experienced arboricultural consultants can put a monetary value to the amenity benefits of a tree.  This tool is regarded as one of the principle and most effective method of tree valuation in the UK.

CAVAT is widely used by local authorities and highways authorities to identify the value of either the loss and replacement of trees following wilful or negligent damage, to assist with insurance and compensation claims or to support tree asset management.

Our arboricultural consultants have been trained by the developer of CAVAT, Chris Neilan and have completed tree valuations using the CAVAT method for several clients including Manchester City Council.
