Plans submitted for historic Grimsby Docks

The former fish docks area of Grimsby will be redeveloped under plans submitted last week.

Urban Green were appointed to develop landscape proposals to support the Fish Docks planning application to North East Lincolnshire Council, with the multi-disciplinary team effort led by Waugh Thistleton Architects.

Our involvement also includes the development of a holistic and historically reflective landscape/public realm masterplan for the wider area. This will weave together the Fish Docks scheme with the restoration proposals of the neighbouring Grade II* listed Ice Factory, one of Europe’s most at risk heritage buildings, and the adjacent new hotel development.

Site owner and developer Tom Shutes, said: “My aim has always been to keep the history and the docks alive by physically reminding visitors of the functions of the Ice Factory, which served as a beating heart of the Kasbah region.

“In bringing the regeneration of the Ice Factory and Fish Dock 2 forward, we hope that the area will become the UK Capital of a new beating heart for the modern engineering businesses and innovators who today work in the offshore wind, renewables and green maritime sector.”
