Student Social in Manchester

Phase 2 construction work has completed at Wilmslow Park House student residence in Manchester.

Urban Green was appointed by iQ Student Accommodation, as part of their national refurbishment programme to uplift and refurbish external spaces to create exciting, usable outdoor courtyards and spaces for students across 12 locations nationwide.

The design team has completed feasibility studies, site appraisals, stakeholder consultation and detailed designs as well as acting as contract administrator through to implementation.

Phase 2 at Wilmslow Park utilises bold colours and level changes to create a modern courtyard linking the student social hub and gymnasium complex and creates an instant visual statement on arrival at the facility. This is further strengthened and enhanced by linking internal users to the outdoors through the incorporation of fitness stations.

Landscape Engineering was the appointed contractor on both phases of the scheme.

Martin King, managing director of Urban Green explains “This completes the programme of external improvements across the student residence portfolio. Wilmslow Park was a real challenge with the constraints of the deck and servicing requirements but credit to IQ for setting a brief to create a statement and something ‘a bit different’. The result is a really striking scheme that has visual impact but provides a really useable space for social interaction and leisure activity. We’re now progressing the latest developments with iQ including a number of significant new builds”.
