Urban Green Continues to Strengthen Its Team

New Recruits, Promotions & Permanent Contracts Announced

Design and environmental consultancy Urban Green has announced new hires, promotions and permanent contracts in response to increased workload in light of the pandemic.

New recruits: Gemma Hizzett, urban designer and Robert Hickey, arboricultural consultant

Gemma Hizzett, urban designer joins Urban Green having spent 3 years at Pegasus Group in Leeds working with the UK’s leading housebuilders and local planning authorities to create residential regeneration schemes via regeneration and illustrative master planning.

Robert Hickey, arboricultural consultant joins having spent 2 years at JCA in Halifax. He will be in integral to delivering newly secured contracts including large scale visual tree assessments for local housing associations and BS5837 tree surveys.

Promotions: Maciej Szumowicz, senior landscape architect and Maisie McKenzie, ecologist

Maciej Szumowicz has been promoted to senior landscape architect. Joining Urban Green in 2016 following a three-month internship organised through the ERASMUS Programme, he has since completed the Landscape Institute’s Professional Pathway to Chartership and now is the office design lead.

Maisie McKenzie has been promoted to ecologist having joined Urban Green in 2020 as Assistant Ecologist. She previously worked for TEP as well as undertaking volunteer researcher placements in Costa Rica and Brazil.

Permanent contract: Mark Blacker, ecologist and Elizabeth Anderson, graduate arboricultural consultant

Mark Blacker, ecologist and Elizabeth Anderson, graduate arboricultural consultant who, following a successful period of working for Urban Green on fixed term contracts have been taken on as permanent employees.
