Creation of a new care village

The client’s aim was to create a new care village within the leafy setting of the existing University campus that encouraged both residents and students to feel like part of one big community. The development included both refurbished existing heritage buildings which would become sheltered living along with a new build secure extra care facility.

Our involvement to date has included concept design, production of now approved planning drawings and a stage 4 detailed design package.

Our design included both the overall landscape site masterplan with connectivity into the wider campus and local town along with detailed design for the extra care facility with consideration for residents with additional needs such as dementia.

The sites historical significance as a former army barracks has been considered through the use of appropriate materials and finishes. It’s historic boundary wall forms a grand backdrop to the landscape proposals and provided a strong sense of place
