Urban Green have started the translocation of Great Crested Newts at the Story Homes’ site in Cottam Hall, Preston. The development of 283 homes on the HCA owned land is set to begin once our ecologists have completed the relocation of the protected amphibians.
For a minimum of 30 days, our team will be trapping the newts and transporting them to a nearby site that has been specially created to provide an ideal habitat for the colony. This will provide a suitable breeding site for the species, whose number have seen a decline in recent years across the UK.
Urban Green have supported Story Homes throughout the planning process through a range of services and will continue to advise in many areas including the creation of a new park designed by our landscape architects.
