Are you an experienced Ecologist looking for a new role?

Urban Green is looking for a highly motivated Ecologist with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to join our team.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering ecology projects across a range of schemes. This will require a significant amount of fieldwork, as well as office-based duties.  A technical focus is required, with excellent delivery experience and strong project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

These will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading/supporting a portfolio of interesting and complex ecological projects from initial client liaison through to completion.
  • Field work including surveying habitats and protected species.
  • Ecological Clerk of Works.
  • Production of technical reports.
  • Maintaining quality and health and safety standards.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Ecologist.
  • Membership of CIEEM.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy.
  • Working knowledge of the planning process.
  • Experience of undertaking European protected species surveys.
  • Experience of writing technical reports.
  • Excellent project management skills including financial control of projects, strong client liaison abilities and coordinating a team effort.
  • Readiness to work outdoors during inclement weather or unsociable hours.
  • Readiness to travel and stay away from home as required.
  • IT competence in MS Office.
  • A valid UK driving licence is essential for this role, as is the flexibility to work outside normal office hours and away from home as necessary.
  • Ability to manage your own time on projects.
  • Initiative and drive, with a positive attitude and a desire to help grow a successful consultancy.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work at all levels with colleagues and clients that fully support the company values.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of Habitat Regulations Assessments.
  • Natural England licence holder (GCN, bats).
  • Ability to demonstrate efficient and profitable delivery.
  • Contributing to business development activities including client relationships and writing fee proposals to expand our current portfolio.
