Survivors Manchester, Charity of the Year 2020

  • 4 Feb 2020

Every year Urban Green choose one charity to support for our ‘Charity of the Year’.

During 2019 we supported Back on Track by holding raffles, bake sales, a sky dive and our Managing Director, Martin took part in the CEO Sleepout, with £2,345.82 raised. This year we hope to surpass that figure by supporting our chosen charity of 2020, Survivors Manchester, who are not only an amazing charity but our neighbours at Deva City Office Park.

Survivors Manchester supports male survivors of sexual assault and rape. They dedicate their time and resources to raising  awareness. The charity provides much needed 1-1 counselling and support for victims, their families and the police as well as consulting government, assisting soaps on related storylines and travelling around the world to raise awareness and educate people on abuse. Their mission is to “break the silence of the sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation of boys and men in order to empower those affected to defeat the legacy of abuse to move towards positive futures”. Survivors Manchester recently received recognition at the National Television Awards for their support on a Coronation Street storyline involving historical sex abuse.

This year we plan to not only host fundraising events to raise money for Survivors Manchester but to raise awareness of both their services and the issues they support. Keep an eye on our social media for updates throughout the year and if you would like to find out more about Survivors Manchester visit their website https://www.survivorsmanchester.org.uk/
