Working alongside the landowner, Homes England (formerly HCA), Urban Green supported joint developers PJ Livesey and Story Homes to save and convert the listed former Lancaster Moor Hospital into apartments along with the development of a further 300 newly, high quality three, four and five-bedroom townhouses, semi-detached and detached homes offering the best of both worlds, located in a scenic and peaceful setting yet close enough to the hub of the city centre.
The iconic Lancaster Moor site had been dilapidated for over a decade and needed a creative approach to its restoration and redevelopment.
Urban Green developed a landscape-led masterplan which aimed to protect the existing environment and features of the 16 hectare site. New public open spaces were created to protect existing habitats and infrastructure along with complimenting the redevelopment of the former hospital. The existing tree lined avenue was restored.
An arboriculture assessment and site-wide woodland management plan was completed for all phases of the exceptional development. The Local Authority’s tree officer was engaged throughout the site works to resolve issues and agree and instruct works to be carried out by the contractors.
Visualisations and verified views were also produced as part of a LVIA carried out on the latter phase of the site, known as Moor Park which resulted in a successful planning consent.
“URBAN GREEN'S PERFORMANCE WAS VERY THOROUGH AND PROFESSIONAL PROVIDING US WITH AN EXCELLENT SERVICE.”
