Plans have been approved by Stockport Council for a modest and considered 19-unit residential scheme of two to five-bed homes on the site of the former Marple Dale Care Home.
Working closely with Seddon Homes and the wider project team, Urban Green developed a landscape-led approach which responded to the unique challenges of the site. In particular a case was made for a reduced impact on the openness of the Green Belt and utilising vacant building credits to provide a sensible quantum of desirable market dwellings whilst providing ecological enhancements and improving access to public open space.
A Landscape and Visual Appraisal (LVA) and a Green Belt Assessment were prepared to evaluate the effect of the proposed development on the landscape and visual amenity of the listed buildings within its proximity and the Green Belt in which it lies.
